Life Skills for Personal Development
At Mildmay Primary school we recognise the need to build understanding and knowledge of issues impacting on a child’s life and we seek to incorporate many important ‘life skills’ messages in our learning beyond the standard curriculum.
These include:
-
Self-Regulation and Wellbeing
-
Votes for Schools – a weekly discussion lesson highlighting key issues of current affairs, personal development and safety, health and well-being.
-
Bikeability in EYFS and Year 6
-
Transition visits for Year 6 in preparation for secondary school
-
Fire Safety talks (particularly around the time of bonfire night).
-
Road safety awareness
-
E-safety and safer internet practice
And a plethora of assemblies (focusing on a wide variety of cultural and personal development themes) for the whole school.
